Virgin coconut oil and extra virgin coconut oil are the same. Extra virgin coconut oil does not exist. Anyone marketing their product as extra virgin coconut oil is actually selling virgin coconut oil not “extra” virgin.
Q. Does it prevent cavities?
As per the FDA, advertising toothpaste as anti-cavity classifies toothpaste as a drug. Drugs require intensive testing in a lab setting before they can be approved. Blisque Organic Toothpaste has not completed its clinical trials yet. There are many who have tested Blisque Organic Toothpaste and have had no cavities during dental checkups.

Q. Why is the pH of oral care products so important?
The optimal pH for oral care products should be slightly alkaline (pH above 7.5 and below 9.) The pH of all Blisque Organic Oral Care products is between 8.4 - 8.5. This is important because a slightly basic pH will neutralize bacterial acids which are responsible for tooth decay.
Furthermore, since most people are already consuming several acidic foods on a daily basis, it is crucial that your toothpaste and mouthwash do not exacerbate the issue. Also important to note that a pH greater than 9 will start to irritate your gums and/or oral tissue. A pH below 5.5 will start to dissolve your enamel. Some popular mouthwash products have a pH as low as 3.7!
Q. Will the citric acid present in Blisque Organic Toothpaste cause damage to my teeth?
The citric acid in Blisque Organic Toothpaste will not cause damage to teeth. The imperative part is the final pH of the toothpaste being applied to your teeth. The pH of Blisque Organic Toothpaste is 8.4. Once the citric acid is added to Blisque Organic Toothpaste it is neutralized because it is presented to a basic environment.
Q. Will lauric acid from cold-pressed virgin coconut oil damage my teeth?
Just like citric acid, lauric acid in coconut oil will not damage your teeth. Even though coconut oil is comprised of at least 50% lauric acid, coconut oil as a whole is not acidic. The same analogy applies to citric acid: while citric acid is acidic, Blisque Organic Toothpaste as a whole is not.

Q. Why is fluoride not included in any formulation?
There are many speculations whether or not fluoride should be used in toothpaste. We believe that fluoride is a carcinogenic industrial waste and should be avoided. Fluoridated toothpaste has a warning that advises calling poison control if consumed even in minute amounts. This itself should be enough reason to abstain from using fluoride.
Q. Why is SLS not included in any formulation?
Sodium lauryl sulfate is an ingredient used in thousands of personal care products. It is employed as a surfactant, emulsifier, and a degreaser in car detergent, commercial toothpaste, body wash, shampoo and hand soap. SLS replaces soap because it is economical and foams excessively.
Many studies conducted show that SLS and any related chemicals such as SLES (sodium lauryl ether sulfate), are carcinogenic and have various side effects including organ toxicity and irritation to cell membranes.
The problem is that most consumers using common commercial personal care products are applying SLS (or related chemicals) to their bodies every day. Prolonged exposure creates a higher risk to the consumer and should be of great concern.
Q. Why is glycerin not added to Blisque Organic Toothpaste?
Aside from giving toothpaste its smooth consistency and texture, glycerin does absolutely nothing but harm your teeth. It creates a coating over your teeth that block their ability to remineralize. For this reason, Blisque Organic Toothpaste avoids the use of glycerin.

Q. Where are we located?
Blisque Inc. is located in Staten Island, NY in the United States.
Q. Where are Blisque Organic Toothpaste and Mouthwash manufactured?
Blisque Organic Toothpaste and Mouthwash are manufactured in Staten Island, NY in the United States.
Q. What are the unnamed plant oils in your toothpaste?
The unnamed plant oils used are oils that undergo saponification. We use a proprietary set of 100% USDA organic, non-GMO oils in specific ratios and saponify them to help our toothpaste have better foaming and cleansing properties.
Q. Is tea tree oil one of your unnamed plant oils in your ingredients?
Tea tree oil is not one of our unnamed plant oils. None of our products use tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is a highly controversial essential oil. The European Union has said that even small amounts of the undiluted oil could be unsafe and unstable after clinical trials found users risked rashes and allergies. There is also speculation that tea tree oil causes gynaecomastia - the growth of breasts. Researchers say that the repeated use of such oils may disrupt hormonal function.
Our unnamed plant oils are based on carrier oils not essential oils.
Q. Is the citric acid used in Blisque Organic Toothpaste non-GMO?
The citric acid used in our toothpaste is 100% non-GMO. It is produced by microbial fermentation. The USDA organic seal ensures that any products they certify must be non-GMO or else they cannot get the certification. Our USDA Organic seal is proof that nothing we use is genetically modified.
The reason you see citric acid added to our ingredient list is because aloe vera leaf juice manufacturers use it to preserve the aloe. So we don't actually add the citric acid ourselves, it is added to the aloe vera leaf juice by aloe leaf juice manufacturers.
Citric acid provides a pH of around 2 to inhibit bacterial growth. However, the citric acid is neutralized when added to our toothpaste. The final pH of our product is around 8.4 so no need to worry about the acid eroding your enamel. If any product is using citric acid to preserve the product, it is best to keep that product away from your teeth because the overall pH of that product will be extremely acidic.
Our new batches will avoid the citric acid altogether because we have found an aloe vera leaf juice manufacturer that avoids the citric acid.
(Our new packaging after July 2018 will not list citric acid as an ingredient).
Q. Is the organic xylitol in your other toothpaste non-GMO and is it from corn or birch?
Our organic xylitol is absolutely non-GMO. Anything certified organic is non-GMO by default. It is not possible to certify a genetically modified ingredien
Organic xylitol is sourced from organic corn. Once again, the corn is non-GMO because it is organic. Also important to note that both toothpaste flavors that we offer use organic xylitol. Blisque Organic Mouthwash does not use any xylitol.
